Queensland Australia and Uber have banded together to launch the world’s first rideshare submarine from Heron Island in Queensland.
From May 27th until June 3rd, you can log into your Uber app and book yourself on an hour-long scUber ride, which costs $1,500 per person.
Thrillseekers will be able to experience nearly exactly what scuba divers do when they take to the water at the Great Barrier Reef, as the scUber can reach a maximum depth of 30 metres.
Images show how passengers will get 180 degree views of the deep blue sea, while sitting in the glass-encased battery-operated submarine.
The ride share will cost $1,500 per person.
The scUber fits a maximum of three people, meaning you and your companion will get a private tour of the Great Barrier Reef from the pilot.
While it doesn’t come cheap, that price includes an Uber pickup from your location, scenic helicopter transfer to either Heron Island or the Quicksilver Cruises pontoon, your hour scUber ride and your Uber back to your original address.
You better be quick if you’re already dreaming of your scUber travels, because the trips will only be released at 7:30AM each day.
There’s also a minimum cost of $3,000 per ride and availability is not guaranteed.

Tourism and Events Queensland’s Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Coddington, said the partnership with Uber is helping put the spotlight back on the reef.
“In late 2018, consumer research identified that exploring the Great Barrier Reef in a submarine was the most desired future travel experience sought by visitors. scUber makes this wish a reality and reaffirms Queensland tourism’s commitment to providing locals and visitors alike with truly remarkable ways to explore nature’s wonderland,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Uber to showcase the beauty of the reef through this innovative experience. In addition, we’re giving several adventure seeking travellers from around the globe, the chance to win a scUber experience for two as part of a global travel competition launched today.”
